The prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January15 at 8.00 p.m. at Lakowe Area of Ajah in Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the trial of the accused, who are facing a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and stealing, which started at 3.00 p.m. ended at 4. 05 p.m.
Ajibola was accused of stealing $5,000, N1 million, $470 and 300 Renminbi (Chinese currency).
After going through the case file, Magistrate Folarin-Williams sid she did not see anything both in the accused’s statement and in the police investigations to show that the accused killed his wife and quashed the remand application brought by the police.
The accused is alleged to have caused the death of his wife, Patience Rose, 34, and is to remain in prison custody, pending legal advice from the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions.
The accused, resident in Ajegunle, appeared on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
