Police in the South West states of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo have in the past three days announced that they received information that members of the Aiye Confraternity (aka Black Axe) were planning to mark their annual ‘7/7’ celebration (Boogie-Night) in many states of Nigeria on July 7.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, who was at the park at about 7am on Saturday, reports that more than 30 patrol vehicles belonging to the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, Lagos State Task Force and OP MESA (military) were parked around.

Police spokesman in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that preliminary investigation revealed that the mentally challenged woman had been living in the area for several years before she was lynched and set ablaze by some hoodlums on the allegation of being in possession of a baby and three AK-47 rifles.

According to statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, the order for the arrest was given during interrogation and interview session with the leaders by the Commissioner of Police at the Conference Room, State Headquarters, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

A statement by the Lagos command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Sunday said a combined team of policemen and local vigilantes on patrol sighted the suspects at the Ikorodu Roundabout while allegedly robbing innocent commuters and passersby in the area.
