The Lagos State Police Command has warned that no cult-related activities or gathering will be allowed in the state.
The warning came against the backdrop of information it received that members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa (aka Black Axe Confraternity) were planning to hold their “7/7” annual celebration (Boogie-Night) today July 7, 2021.
The command said all tactical squads and Divisional Police Officers have been put on red alert to “fortify the state against any unlawful gathering, procession, lawlessness and possible breakdown of law and order in Lagos State”.
A similar warning had been issued two days ago by the Ogun State Police Command, which also said unauthorised gatherings would not be tolerated.
“The command therefore warns any group of persons under any nomenclature, particularly members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa, aka Black Axe, to steer clear of Lagos State, as the police and other security agencies are prepared to go after and deal with them within the ambit of the law,” a statement by the Lagos State Police Command spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, read.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, while directing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of Tactical Units to intensify patrols across the state, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other social vices in Lagos State.
Odumosu also appealed to the general public, especially parents and guardians, to monitor and discourage their children from engaging in any unlawful group and criminal acts.
