The letter was dated January 18, 2017 and signed by SERAP’s Executive Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni
This followed a petition dated December 30, 2016 and sent by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project to Callamard
The organization also asked Callamard to “request to visit Nigeria to conduct fact-finding mission into the circumstances surrounding the killing”
SERAP’s request followed the disclosure by embattled Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin that Nigerian senators and House of Representatives members have pocketed N500 billion as “running cost” out of the N1 trillion provided for in the National Assembly budgets between 2006 and 2016 and by former President Olusegun Obasanjo
Mumuni noted that the state House of Assembly had passed an amendment to a law which now stipulates the state builds a house worth N200 million for the governor and another worth N100 million for his deputy as part of their retirement package
The suit, with number FHC/L/CS/1318/2016, dated September 23, 2016, was filed on behalf of SERAP by Adetokunbo Mumuni
