Rangers FC appeal against LMC’s decision

Rangers International FC has appealed the summary jurisdiction notice form 16 of the League Management Company on match-day one allegations against the club.
The Nigerian Professional Football League match-day one between Rangers FC and Abia Warriors FC was played on January 15 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
A statement by Rangers Director, Media and Public Relations, Foster Chime, confirmed the filing of the appeal to newsmen in Enugu on Friday.
Chime said Rangers among other facts dissociated themselves from actions perpetrated against match officials on the said day, absolving Rangers supporters from such allegations and “any unsportsmanlike behaviour”.
He further said that Rangers provided adequate security on the said day, including Army, police and civil defence that provided maximum protection to the match officials.
Rangers FC management maintained that rather than pointing accusing fingers at its supporters, blame should be apportioned to supporters of visiting Abia Warriors FC.
Chime said that Abia Warriors supporters trooped onto the pitch at the end of the game, which made the officials jittery.
He said: “The club asserts that its players and supporters did not molest any official nor exhibits any action capable of bringing the league into disrepute.
“Enugu had been one of the most peaceful match centres and still is been because of the fans civility and gentleness.”
Chime maintained that the allegations against the Rangers was not true and urged the LMC to conduct a more details investigation on what happened on that day.
Chime advised the LMC to investigate the conduct of match officials that might have triggered the remote cause of these unacceptable allegations contained with the notices against the club.
According to him, this is to unravel the true picture and correct situation of what happened and exonerate Rangers from all the distorted, malicious fabrications and allegations.
He said the allegation was capable of tarnishing the good and untainted image of the club.
