Police smash kidnap gang, arrest six

The Nigeria Police Force has smashed a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in Kaduna State.
The operation that led to the smashing of the syndicate was carried out by the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team.
Six members of the syndicate have been arrested.
They are Kashimu Shehu, popularly known as Baliago, who is the the gang Leader; Aliyu Mato, aka yellow; Muhammedu Mamman; Hassan Bello; Bala Mohammed; and Ishiaku Kabiru.
The arrested kidnappers, all male, who have been terrorizing Kaduna and Zaria areas of Kaduna State, will soon be arraigned in court.
The gang was responsible for the abduction of Rev. Yakubu Dzarma, Rev. Emmanuel Dziggan and Rev, Illiya Anthony on March 21, 2016 at Dutse village in Kaduna State, while Dan’Azumi Mohammed was kidnapped alongside her sister, Hajara Mohammed, on April 14, 2016 at Andun Jangwan village in the State by the same gang.
Anthony died in the custody of his abductors, while the others were freed.
The arrest of the kidnappers, a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, on Saturday, said is indicative of the Force’s commitment to the fight against all forms of crimes and criminality in the country.
Kolawole said the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, while commending the Force Intelligence Response Team and other Police operatives involved in the arrest of the suspects for their dedication and professionalism, said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.
Arase also appealled to Nigerians to support the Nigeria Police Force by providing useful information that could help in unmasking the criminal elements in the country.
