The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the extension of the tenure of the 33 local government Transition Committees by six months, following a request by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The tenure of the committees was due to expire on Thursday after their appointment six months ago.
Meanwhile, the governor has submitted a list of 12 names for confirmation as commissioners.
The governor dissolved his cabinet on September 23.
The nominees include five members of the dissolved cabinet, namely Adebayo Ojo, Dapo Lam Adesina, Adetutu Adeyemi Akhigbe, Muyiwa Gbadegesin and Zacheus Adelabu.
Others are Prof. S.O. Olaniyan, Olufunke Oworu, Gbade Lana, Faruk Alao, Adewale Olujide, Abiodun Atanda and Deji Akande.
The Speaker of the assembly, Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu, read out the list at plenary on Tuesday.
Sunmonu promised that the lawmakers would scrutinise the credentials of the nominees.
“The assembly members will go through the credentials of the nominees and make sure that a thorough job is done,” she said.
The speaker said the nominees would appear before the assembly for screening on Wednesday by 10am, adding that they were expected to bring 40 copies of their credentials.
