Students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State on Wednesday commenced their second semester examination amid tight security.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria who visited the campus, reported that men of the Ogun State Police Command were stationed at the entrance and other strategic places within the university premises.
NAN reports that the commencement of the examination was suspended on Monday due to a protest by some students of the institution.
The students had staged the protest over the implementation of the reformation programme of the school authority.
In pursuit of the programme, the students were asked to re-register and regularise their admission into the university.
Students, who had not registered or paid their school fees in full, were prevented from sitting for the examination.
Mohammed Abdulkadri, an Assistant Commissioner of Police who led the operation, said normalcy had been restored in the institution.
A statement issued by the state government on Sunday, warned students, who had not completed the registration formalities or fully paid their school fees, to stay away from the university campus during the examination.
Commenting on the protest in an interview with newsmen, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Saburi Adesanya, said the reformation programme was aimed at making the university one of the best in the world.
Adesanya said that in line with the implementation of the programme, the students were expected to regularise their admission by re-registering and indicating their matriculation number.
Adesanya said that the exercise was also in line with the directive of the National Universities Commission.
He said that the examination, which some students disrupted on Monday, had commenced with 500 level Law students.
Adesanya said that the list of bona-fide students, who had complied with the exercise, would be sent to the NUC to ascertain the actual number of students in the university.
