NPFL: Wikki reclaim NPFL top spot, + full results

Wikki Tourists are back on top of the Nigeria league table after they forced hosts, Warri Wolves, to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
They now have 43 points from 25 matches, same as Enugu Rangers, but enjoy a far better goals difference.
Rivers United remain in third place with 41 points after a 1-0 home win against Niger Tornadoes, while Kano Pillars are now fourth on the back of a 3-0 win against Lobi Stars.
Wikki looked like they had suffered yet another slip in the title chase as they were losing 1-0 at Wolves after a 32nd minute goal by Ewenike Achibi, but on the stroke of full time, Idris Guda drew them level.
In the 88th minute, Wolves were reduced to 10 men after Shedrack Oghali was given his second booking.
In Sunday’s other matches, Shooting Stars came from a goal down to beat Nasarawa United 2-1, hosts Ikorodu United were held to a 1-1 draw by FC IfeanyIUbah and Plateau United were pegged back by Akwa United.
In Port Harcourt, Bernard Ovoke was the match winner for Rivers United as they overpowered Niger Tornadoes 1-0.
Ovoke cut in from the right and curled home an unstoppable effort past the despairing Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper, Mustapha Aliko, in the 22nd minute.
It turned out to be the only goal of the contest as United remained in third spot on the NPFL table, two points adrift of the leaders, Wikki Tourists.
The Rivers United Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma, lauded his charges for the win but rued the missed chances that came their way.
Eguma told Rivers United Media: “We did not underestimate Tornadoes because we know they are a very strong team.
“They gave us a tough battle as we expected but in the end, we were able to win and that was the most important thing.
“They played well but if we had converted the chances we got today, the margin of victory would have been wider.”
Tornadoes Head Coach, Bala Abubakar, refused to blame Wassa for the penalty miss in the first half.
Abubakar said: “It was a difficult one and a very sad one because it could have given us the equalizer.
“Unfortunately, that is football and anyone can miss a penalty.
“We are not happy about the loss but there is nothing we can do about it because it is part of the game.”
