Nigeria is likely to host the Beach Soccer Africa Nations Cup in 2017 as all necessary logistics are being perfected to stage the tournament in Lagos, so said the CEO of Kinetic Sports Management, Samson Adamu.
Adamu, whose organization had hosted the Copa Lagos for four years with the fifth edition slated for December 18 to 20, disclosed that CAF had already agreed to give the right to Nigeria.
“As part of our efforts to popularize Beach Soccer in Nigeria, we are into discussion with CAF to host the Beach Soccer Nations Cup in 2017. And I’m proud to inform that we have received favourable response,” Adamu said.
In a similar vein, Adamu disclosed that Kinetic Sports Management also plans to organize a Beach Soccer League and had commenced discussion with the League Management Company towards realization of the proposal.
Meanwhile, Adamu has disclosed this year’s edition of COPA Lagos would be bigger and more fun-filled.
According to him, apart from the FC Barcelona that would feature in the team challenge, the England national team would also participate at the three-day soccer fiesta.
He said: “The COPA Lagos is getting bigger every year. For this edition, England will join FC Barcelona alongside Pepsi Academy and Kano Pillars as well as the Super Beach Eagles. We have also lined up a programme tagged: ‘Cleaning the Beach,’ and Kids Clinic.
“We want to make this year’s edition a memorable one with a new dimensional focusing on Concert and Fashion that will take the event beyond the beach soccer games as it prepares to give other opportunities and supports to the ever increasing Nigeria music industry,” he said.
Earlier, the NFF Technical Director, Amodu Shaibu, lauded Adamu and his team for sustaining the development of the game in the country, while Uche Mojekwu, a representative of FCMB, pledged the bank’s continued support to Beach Soccer development, stressing that it keyed into FCMB’s philosophy of connecting with the people.
