Disturbed by the insecurity in Nigeria that seems to have defied all possible solutions, the President of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, Rev. Dachollom Datiri, has described Nigeria as a sick nation.
Datiri, who stated this during the 85th General Church Council meeting at the COCIN headquarters in Jos, Plateau State, said the Nigerian disease is a life threatening one, adding: “We must seek God’s face, repent and turn from our evil ways.”
He called on Nigerians to rally round President Goodluck Jonathan and give him the maximum cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
According to him, some individuals are determined to keep Nigeria perpetually underdeveloped, urging: “We must encourage the President to keep on pressing on.
“I condemn in very strong terms the extremely wicked form of terrorism displayed in the abduction of the over 200 school girls and the repeated Nyanya bombings.”
Speaking on corruption, Datiri said the Nigerian problem has seemingly defied all solutions.
He said: “We must go back to truth, justice, righteousness and integrity by returning to God in truth.”
He expressed the fear that 2015 might pose a serious threat to the country, adding that the political atmosphere indicated danger.
He advised politicians to play the game according to the rules.
Datiri reminded Christian politicians that they have a responsibility to bring sanity into the Nigerian politics and call on them to do the right thing.
The COCIN president commended the developmental strides of Jonathan and his intentions, which, according to him, are meant to bring about good change for Nigeria.
He said that the transformation agenda is quite commendable, stressing that the strides in electricity generation, availability of petroleum products, agriculture, education, science and technology is a formidable efforts.
