Martins injured again, ruled out for six weeks

Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins, has been effectively ruled of action for six weeks, The Eagle Online can report.

The pacy forward caught the injury in Seattle Sounders’ fourth round action of the US Open Cup against the Portland Timbers.

Martins has missed a few games already this season due to numerous little injuries, most recently a broken nose.

Seattle’s Head Coach, Sigi Schmid, said his injury won’t require surgery, but that he could miss between three to six weeks.

Martins arrived in Seattle back in March 2013 and made an immediate impact.

Martins established himself one of the most dangerous players in the league with his speed, skill and goal scoring ability.

In 21 MLS regular season games, he scored eight goals and assisted on four others.

The 2014 MLS season was by far his best in Rave Green.

He appeared in 31 games and scored 17 goals and assisted on 13 others.

His 2014 season put him in the running for MLS MVP.

His 17 goals set the Sounders single season goal scoring record.
