Major sponsor of Nigerian national teams, Globacom, has urged the Flying Eagles to fly over their Uruguayan counterparts when they clash on Tuesday in the second round match at the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
The Coach John Obuh-coached junior national team scaled through to the second round by beating the Republic of Korea by a lone goal on June 27 to enter into the knockout stage.
“The Flying Eagles are rising up to the occasion and we believe they will consolidate on their performance as they advance in the competition,” Globacom said in a statement in Lagos on Monday.
“We are aware of the challenge posed by Uruguay, but we equally have strong faith in you to qualify for the quarter finals. Indeed, Nigerians will want you to use the match to avenge the defeat of the Super Eagles by the Uruguayan national team in the just concluded FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil,” Globacom said in the statement.
Globacom stated further that the team should be focussed and work towards surpassing the quarter final qualification attained by Nigeria at the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
The leading telecommunications operator advised the Flying Eagles’ technical crew to evolve a winning formula that would put the encounter beyond Uruguay.
Globacom is the official telecommunications partner of the Nigeria Football Federation and the major sponsor of the Nigerian national teams.
