Kwara FA elections: Electoral Committee extends sale of forms

The sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming elections into various offices in the Kwara Football Association Board, which was earlier scheduled to close on Thursday, has been extended.
Secretary of the FA, Ahmed Adebayo, told newsmen on Wednesday in Ilorin that the extension to Jan. 31 was decided upon at the Extra-Ordinary Congress of the FA held on Monday.
He said the congress also decided that FA board membership elections would also hold, alongside those for the Chairmanship and Vice-Chairmanship elections, on February14.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the sale of forms began on Jan. 9, immediately after the inauguration of the Electoral Committee.
Busari Ishola, Chairman of the FA, said some of the provisions in the statutes have been relaxed in order to allow the elections to be “free’’.
Ishola, who expressed delight that over 75 percent of members were present at the congress, said the congress succeeded in addressing “grey areas’’ and it has made adjustments.
NAN reports that as at midday Wednesday, four aspirants have obtained forms to contest for the chairmanship position.
These include Toyin Olokoba, the Chairman of Ilorin East Football Council and Idris Jibril, the Chairman of Patigi Football Council.
The others are Owolabi Wopa, a former member of the defunct Nigeria Premier League Board, and Idris Musa, the National Coordinator of ABS Football Club of Ilorin.
Also, the duo of Abdulkadri Shuaib and Umar Bolaji have obtained forms to contest for the Vice-Chairmanship position.
