Kwara Assembly gives approval for another five-year term for KWASU VC
The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday gave approval for re-appointment of Prof. AbdulRasheed Naallah as the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University for a second five-year term.
The approval followed the passage of a bill amending the laws establishing the institution.
The amendment bill was passed after the House of Assembly adopted the report of its Committee on Education and Human Capital Development.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Hajia Nimata Ibrahim, representing llorin-East Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, who presented the report, urged the House to pass the bill to allow the Vice-Chancellor remain in office for another five years.
The Clerk of the House, Oyetunde Oyeniyi, later read the amended bill for the third time and it was consequently passed to law
The Deputy Speaker, Prof. Gana Yissa, who presided over Tuesday’s plenary, directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the assent of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The University Amendment Bill was sent to the House in February 2014 by Ahmed.
