Dare-devil kidnappers that abducted James Iloenyosi, father of former Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi, have demanded a whopping N50 million ransom from the family.
The kidnappers had, on Monday, stormed the sleepy town of Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State to whisk away the 83-year old Pa Iloenyosi to an unknown place.
According to the former Eagles defender, the incident occurred at about 9.30am on the fateful day, soon after the aged man returned from morning mass held at St Mark’s Catholic Church, Abagana.
He explained that the gang of kidnappers had cut short Iloenyosi’s usual morning routine that also included reception of visitors.
The family that have been in anguish over the unfortunate incident involving the patriarch, the Akuluno 1 of Abagana, expressed fears over his health condition, lamenting that it might deteriorate in the kidnappers’ custody.
The ace footballer also hinted that his father’s abductors have reached some members of the family on phone, demanding a N50 million ransom before they could set him free.
“They have called me and my in-law on phone to demand N50million. We are worried and disturbed about what is happening to my dad, because even though he is strong, we all know that a man of 83 years needed regular care which his abductors cannot give. We are appealing to those who have done this to quickly set him free,” Iloenyosi pleaded.
Asked whether he suspects any political undertone to the abduction, Iloenyosi said that his father is a quiet man that is trying to enjoy his retirement in a peaceful manner, ruling out any possible political motives.
