Kidnapped victim with eyes removed, two with gunshots, 37 others rescued

 A joint operation by vigilantes and hunters have rescued 40 hostages who had been languishing in a kidnappers’ den in Taraba State.  

 According to reports, the rescued hostages were kidnapped from rural communities.

 They were kidnapped in Yorro and Zing local government areas of the state.  

 It was gathered that the vigilantes and the hunters, on a rescue mission, clamped down the kidnappers’ den, located atop Gongomaliki Mountain on Saturday.

 The 40 hostages are residents of Dilla, Lanko, and Gampu communities in Yorro LGA, and Dekko and Kotsensi communities of Monkin B ward in Zing LGA.

 Confirming the rescue on Monday in Jalingo, the state capital, the Commissioner, Taraba State Police Command, CP David Iloyanomon, said the rescued hostages were taken to the police clinic for examination and treatment after they regained freedom.

 Iloyanomon further disclosed that one of the rescued hostages had an eye plucked out, while another who had gunshot injuries and are still in the hospital.

 Also, the CP while parading 10 suspected kidnappers who were apprehended at different locations in Ardo-Kola local government of the state, reiterated that the state police command would continue to collaborate with local security apparatus to ensure the state’s safety.
