Kalu to receive ‘Justice Advocacy Award’

A former Governor of Abia State and Coordinator of Njiko Igbo, Dr. Orji Kalu, will on Friday in the United States of America receive the “2013 Advocacy for Justice Award”.
The award is to be bestowed on Kalu by the Ndi-Igbo in Diaspora.
The group operates under the aegis of Pan Ndi-Igbo Foundation USA, Inc.
Kalu is being honoured for his laudable contributions to the cause of Ndi Igbo in particular and Nigeria and Nigerians in general.
According to a statement jointly signed by Messrs Geoffrey Nzeadibe and Felix Okereke, the National Chairman and Secretary of the association respectively, similar awards had been conferred on late literary giant, Prof. Chinua Achebe; a former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Chief S.N. Okeke; Senator Onyeabo Obi; and former Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akinyuli, among others.
A letter to Kalu by the organizers of the event reads in part: “The 2013 Advocacy for Justice Award is presented to you in appreciation of your tireless work for Igbo dignity and your significant advocacy for equity, fairness, and justice for Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria and around the world.
“Ndi-Igbo in the Diaspora under the auspices of PNF-USA, Inc. unequivocally supports your bold and fearless effort to protect and advocate for human rights of Ndi-Igbo and Nigerians in general.
“We sincerely commend you and thank God that someone like you is able to emerge at these trying times for Ndi-Igbo.”
The award ceremony will be attended by diplomats, Igbo sons and daughters in the Diaspora and members of the Nigerian community in USA, Canada, Europe and Asia.
