President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday in Abuja conferred the National Productivity Order of Merit Award on 20 outstanding individuals and 10 organisations for their outstanding performance.
The conferment of the award on the recipients was part of activities lined up to mark the 13th National Productivity Day.
The recipients cut across the public and private sector.
Jonathan was represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The President, accompanied by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, and other dignitaries later inspected exhibition stands of award winners at the premises.
The items on display included furniture, health care products, clothing materials, household items and products from wood wastes.
The recipients of the award were Sahad Stores, Benue State AIDS Control Agency, NISA Premier Hospital and SUNSEED Nigeria Limited, among others.
The others included Aminu Ladan of the National Teachers Institute, Kaduna; Aiyerin Ayodele, a school administrator in Lagos State; and Dr. Godwin Omene for his contribution to the development of the petroleum sub-sector.
The event also featured dance troops that performed scintillating tunes to the admiration of the guests.
The ceremony was held amidst tight security, with security operatives guarding the premises to forestall breakdown of law and order.
The National Productivity Centre was formally inaugurated in 1984 to institutionalise productivity consciousness and excellence in both public and private sectors.
