Hunters kill seven Boko Haram members in Adamawa

Seven Boko Haram members have been reportedly killed by hunters drafted for the fight against insurgency in Ghantsa area of Makwan village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Eyewitnesses in the area said members of the Boko Haram sect attacked Ghantsa on Saturday at about 12pm.
They were said to be burning houses and shooting sporadically at Makwan village, which is a few kilometres to Gulak town of Madagali Local Government Area.
An eyewitness said while they were busy with their operation, seven of them met their waterloo, while some escaped with bullet wounds as the local hunters took them on.
He said while they were busy burning houses and looting properties belonging to the villagers, some Fulanis quickly alerted the hunters who were manning their duty post about some killometres away from Ghantsa area of Makwan village, adding that on hearing the news of the attack, the leader of the hunters, Mallam Bukar Jimeta, immediately mobilized his men to the area.
The source further explained that the hunters engaged the members of the Boko Haram sect for close to three hours between 10pm to midnight on Saturday.
They overpowered the insurgents.
While seven were killed, one caught alive though with gun wounds.
Others fled into the bush.
Also confirming the incident, Jimeta, the leader of the Hunters Association of Nigeria, said his men killed Boko Haram members, but refused to speak further on the issue.
Also, a senior military officer, who does not want his name in print, confirmed that there was an attack at about 12pm on Saturday to 1am on Sunday.
He said some weapons and ammunitions were recovered from the insurgents and have been handed over the authority concerned.
