A former Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area, Hon. Hittler Fankun Dadi, has indicated interest in engaging the member representing Langtang North/South in the National Assembly, Hon Beni Lar, in a fight to finish political battle ahead of the 2015 poll.
Dadi, who is coming out on the platform of All Progressives Congress, expressed worry over the use of political thugs to rig elections in the country.
According to him: “Some people are trying to set a dangerous precedent and if care is not taken, we will soon get to a stage where some disgruntled people will get our beloved country into anarchy.”
He described as unfortunate, the extra judicial killings being perpetrated in Plateau State.
He said it was dangerous to the sustenance of democracy in the state.
Dadi however urged Plateau State citizens to look beyond the narrow interest of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party to elect credible personalities that can redeem the lost glory of the state.
He said: “Rather, what is playing out in Plateau State portends serious danger for democracy in Nigeria if it is allowed to succeed.
“We cannot speak of Nigeria without the Tarok nation.
“The first Nigerian who rose from rank and file to become a three star general was a Tarok man, General Domkat Bali, and the first ECOMOG Commander, General John Nanzip Shagaya, the UN Secretary General, Nanven Joseph Garba, all retired.
“The government must not give the impression that it is working against the people.
“The moment the people begin to have the feeling that the election is being used to perpetuate selfish interests, the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission will become questionable and that is unhealthy for our nation.
“Therefore, those involved in the Plateau State matter should be mindful of their actions and inaction so that they don’t destroy democracy in our country.”
