Group predicts PDP fall in Delta, others

A political pressure group, the Delta Democracy Monitoring Group, has predicted a very tough contest for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party come 2015.
The group was categorical that the arch-rival All Progressives Congress has gained the needed in-road to cling the number one party position in Nigeria.
According to it, aside the tentacles, the party has spread at such an alarming rate that has made it a credible alternative to rely upon.
It said the APC has sprang surprises against the blueprint of the ruling party for the development of Nigeria.
The Head of Media and Communication of the DDMG, Comrade Solo Oyivwi, told The Eagle Online that APC’s just-concluded congresses speak volume of the party’s readiness to take the country to the next level of development.
Oyivwi said the party is well grounded and articulate enough to provide a formidable alternative platform to Nigerians, especially Deltans in the coming elections.
He said after a careful perusal of the APC congresses in Delta State, they discovered that the party is aggressively prepared to provide the long-awaited alternative platform that could give the PDP a keen contest in 2015.
Describing the group as non-partisan but committed to the crusade for good governance and endearment of democratic values, Comrade Oyivwi said they were strongly in support of the move to have a formidable and credible alternative party capable of placing the ruling PDP on its toes.
He said: “The blatant abuse of offices and total disregard that the PDP have for the feelings of Deltans, especially in refusing to conduct local government election despite the peoples’ cries, have thrown up the need for a credible alternative more than ever.
“If you carefully look around the state, you will see that the mood of majority of the people, including many of those in the ruling PDP, reflects that of a people deeply desirous of positive change.
“So we commend the APC leadership and urge them to remain focused and resolute in their determination to provide the needed instrument of political checks and balances in Delta State.”
DDMG, Oyivwi noted, would continue to sensitize Deltans and spread the necessary awareness among the populace in the march to the 2015 general election, maintaining that this would be done “in order to ensure that the people give their support to credible persons that would guarantee the true practice of democracy where the people shall have their rights and privileges guaranteed”.
