Five policemen killed in Kaduna Boko Haram attack

No fewer than five policemen are reported to have been killed in the attack on Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, by gunmen suspected to be members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
It was learnt that the policemen were either shot dead or burnt in the police station that was set ablaze when the gunmen attacked Birnin Gwari in the midnight on Wednesday.
The gunmen, though resisted for about two hours by the policemen, eventually set their station on fire.
Two banks were also set on fire by the gunmen, purportedly after raiding it.
The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Jibrin Mai Gwari, told newsmen that the level of arms and ammunition used were sophisticated.
Gwari said it was only during the civil war in Nigeria he heard such gun power.
He said: “The sound of thunderous heavy fire power is similar to that heard during the civil war as we heard heavy exchange of fire with policemen during the attack.”
