Ekpo urges Super Eagles to remain focused

Ex-international, Friday Ekpo, on Sunday urged the Super Eagles to remain focused in their quest for a ticket to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Ekpo made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, in the build-up to the team’s showdown against the Flames of Namibia on June 12.
He added that the players should ensure that they sustained the momentum they had generated through their 1-0 victory against the Harambee Stars on June 5 in Kenya.
He said: “The Super Eagles should be more focused at this crucial stage of the qualifiers.
“No team is an underdog when it comes to the game of football.
“So I expect that our boys should take every team seriously, to enable us to travel to Brazil in 2014.”
Ekpo, who plied his trade with the defunct Abiola Babes FC of Abeokuta and Shell FC of Libreville, Gabon, however, expressed confidence that the Eagles will get to Brazil.
“I am hopeful we will be in Brazil for the world football fiesta, if we do the right thing at the right time,” he said.
He urged the Nigeria Football Association not to relent in its support, to ensure qualification for the football fiesta.
