The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is undergoing grilling by the Department of State Services.
This is coming just hours after his indefinite suspension by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, announced on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, Tinubu ordered Bawa’s suspension to allow for the probe of weighty allegations of abuse of office against him.
Shortly after the announcement, the DSS confirmed the arrival of Bawa at its headquarters in Abuja for grilling.
According to informed sources, the suspended EFCC boss arrived at the DSS headquarters at about 9pm.
In a statement by its spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunanya, the DSS said: “The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bawa arrived a few hours ago.
“The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.”
As at press time, there were no indications Bawa had been allowed to go home.
