Deputy governor confirms 18 killed in Borno

The Borno State Deputy Governor, Zanna Mustapha, has said that no fewer than 18 persons were killed in Damboa Market in the state on Monday.
Zanna, who spoke on Tuesday, said the chief of the village, Abba Ahmed, told him that the attack on the market in the town late on Monday, led to the death of 18 persons.
The violence was said to have followed the ban placed on the sale of bush meat in the local market by the residents.
The hunters of the bush meat, which includes monkey, were reported to be displeased with the decision, launching the attack.
