Delta 2015: APC zones governorship seat to Delta North

One of the factional Chairmen of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Isaac Tobore Ajueshi, has said Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s successor will emerge from Delta North Senatorial District under the party in 2015.
Ajueshi is among the three chairmen of the APC in Delta State.
Others are Chief Adolor Okotie-Eboh of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and Prophet Jones Ode Erue, who emerged as the incumbent state chairman during the party’s recently concluded congress in the state.
The three of them are fighting for the soul of the party in the oil rich state.
Chief Ajueshi, who was the protem chairman of the party shortly after the merger, set up one of the two secretariats of the party that are functioning concurrently in Asaba, the state capital.
He became aggrieved at what the national body of the party did, decrying the party’s strategy of “use and dump”.
Speaking in Asaba at the weekend, Chief Ajueshi said the party had concluded plans to produce a Delta North man as Uduaghan’s successor.
According to him, the party is currently working on two options.
These are: concede the plum position to Delta North or make it an all-comers’ affairs across the state.
Ajueshi explained that the option “B” would only be enforced if the people of Delta North failed to push forward a credible aspirant.
Option ‘A’ may not be far-fetched from the widespread speculation that one of the ‘Big-Three aspirants’ in the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party has positioned himself in the arch-rival party to realize his dream, should the ticket of his party elude him.
While Ajueshi promised that the leadership tussle rocking the APC’s State Working Committee would soon be a thing of the past, he hailed the national body of the party for wading into the crises in Edo and Delta States’ chapters.
He said: “APC is firmly on ground in Delta State.
“Whether controversy or no controversy, we are battle ready for the forthcoming local government areas’ elections with other existing political parties in the state.
“I am sure that the controversy that is tearing us apart will be resolved this week to ensure that the true leadership (state exco) in Delta State emerged.
“APC as a party in the state has formalized plans to cede the governorship position to Delta North, come 2015, because it is the desire of the party that every part of the state should benefit from government.”
Ajueshi warned those he referred to as “political jobbers” and “spies” from the ruling PDP to withdraw, maintaining that “at the appropriate time they will be disgraced out of our party”.
Ajueshi urged party faithful to be loyal and committed in anticipation of the victory of the party at the Local Government Areas, state and national levels.
