Damoche: 120 suspected cultists arrested as police denies further killing

No fewer than 120 suspected cult members have been arrested in and around the Lagos State University, Ojo Campus by officers and men of the Nigeria Police following the killing of fast rising hip hop star, Damola Olaniyan, popularly known as Damoche.
Though the Lagos State Police Command denied that any arrest has been made and that there has been no reprisal killing as reported in a section of the media, it was learnt that officers and men of Area E, which oversees the LASU area, arrested the suspected cultists between Friday and Sunday.
Those arrested, it was learnt, have been moved to the Ikeja office of the State Anti-Robbery Squad.
Olaniyan was killed on Thursday afternoon as he made to leave the campus on a commercial motorcycle.
He was said to have just left the classroom where he wrote a test.
Until his death, Olaniyan was a 400 Level student of Banking and Finance of LASU.
He was believed to have been shot by a rival gang as reports had it that he belonged to one of the confraternities on the campus.
The police however denied any arrest and further killing in the school.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said the report that more students of LASU have been killed remains a rumour.
Braide said: “We also heard about this young man that was killed.
“But investigation has shown that nobody was killed.
“The story that anybody was killed on Friday was a lie.”
