An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State on Friday remanded one Moshood Bello, 51, for allegedly defrauding a man under the pretence that he will supply him 132,000 litres of petroleum product valued N11 million.
The Chief State Counsel, M. F. Faremi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in April 2013 at Ile-Ife.
Faremi said the defendant fraudulently obtained N11,220,000 from Alhaji Popoola Ogundoyin with the pretence to supply him 132,000 litres of dual purpose kerosene, knowing it fully to be false.
He added that the offence contravened sections 1(a),(b), 2 and punishable under section 1(3) of Advance Fee Frauds Act 2006.
The defendant, who did not take the plea, engaged Ola Ibrahim as his Defence Counsel.
Magistrate O.B. Adediwura said her court lacked jurisdiction to try such a case and ordered for his remand at Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional centre.
The case was adjourned until November 19 for mention.
