Come home to invest in Akwa Ibom, Akpabio urges professionals

Akwa Ibom State professionals resident in Lagos State have been called upon to come home to invest for the rapid development of the state.
Governor Godswill O. Akpabio, who made the call when the Association of Akwa Ibom Professionals paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, said: “I want all of you to think homeward because Akwa Ibom state is developing rapidly.”
Akpabio added: “Due to your professional skills, I also want to discuss with you on what angle to focus for the development of the state because we need to think more about the sustainable growth of the state.
“I specifically wanted to see all of you because you have all made it in your various fields of professions and that is why you were able to come home.”
The governor said his administration in the past six years decided to develop the state from the new Governor’s Lodge to the Governor’s Office and the entire state to cope with the increasing population of the state.
He said that was reason the state government was and is building estates to accommodate more people.
He said the government was erecting infrastructure in the state, providing free and compulsory education for children resident in the state and providing free health-care delivery services to children and the pregnant.
The government, according to him, has sent more than 5,000 people abroad for treatment, is constructing an international hospital with sophisticated facilities as well as is constructing Ibaka Deep Seaport where 14,500 hectares had been acquired for the project.
Also speaking, a representative of the association and the Managing Director of SO&U Company, an advertising firm, Udeme Ufot, said they were in the state to interact, share ideas and listen to Akpabio on the development of the state.
Ufot commended Akpabio for developing the state and for the security measures, especially protecting the lives of people in the state, and the various awards he has received for his hard work.
