The Confederation of African Football has decided on harmonising the names of all its competitions involving national teams, it announced Sunday.
The Executive Committee decided to name all competitions involving national teams as Africa Cup of Nations, distinguishing them just by their particularity (i.e. gender or age group), with the exception of the African Nations Championship.
The official names of CAF competitions are: Africa Cup of Nations, African Nations Championship, Africa Women Cup of Nations, Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, Africa Beach-Soccer Cup of Nations, Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Meanwhile, the final draws for the African Nations Championship, Rwanda 2016, will take place on November 18, 2015 in Kigali, Rwanda.
An inspection team will be in Rwanda between August 23 to 27, 2015 to appraise the state of preparedness and hold working sessions with the Local Organising Committee. The final tournament is scheduled from January 16 to February 7, 2016.
In addition, the CAF executive Committee decided the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, Senegal 2015, final draw will take place on September 14, 2015 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.
The cities chosen for the competition are Dakar and M’Bour.
The final qualification tournament for the Olympic Games, Rio 2016, will take place from November 28 through December 12, 2015.
