Barcelona are continuing to receive regular updates on Manchester City’s exciting young striker Kelechi Iheanacho.
Sources hinted his club are aware of the undertaking by the Catalan giants. They first attempted to recruit Iheanacho after he led Nigeria to the Under-17 World Cup back in 2013, where he also won the Golden Ball award for Player of the Tournament.
Barca’s bosses, however, were eventually caught napping and City moved quickly to recruit the youngster from the Taye Academy for a now-bargain £300,000.
The 20-year-old has since established himself for both club and country, scoring 18 times in just 33 bit-part appearances for City. Iheanacho has penned a new long-term deal at the Etihad and is happy learning under the guidance of boss Pep Guardiola.
But that hasn’t deterred the Camp Nou spies, who decided to update their dossier on the player when the two clubs were drawn together in this season’s Champions League.
The competition for striker places at City will only be further increased when Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus arrives in Manchester later next month.
There is also an interest in Iheanacho from Tottenham Hotspur but City are believed to be relaxed about the situation.
