Retired General Mamman Shuwa, another close ally of a former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has been shot dead by suspected Boko Haram members.
Shuwa, The Eagle Online learnt, was shot dead in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, a few hours ago.
The killing of Shuwa on Friday brings to two the number of Sheriff’s allies who have been shot dead this week by suspected Boko Haram militants.
Boko Haram has not hidden its dislike for Sheriff.
Among the conditions given by the group for a ceasefire with the Federal Government was the arrest and prosecution of Sheriff.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that Shuwa will be buried on Friday evening.
The Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to attend the burial.
Shetimma, it was learnt, was still at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, trying to get a flight to Maiduguri to attend the burial as at press time.
