Newcastle striker, Shola Ameobi, admits he is open to the idea of staying at St James’ Park, if an offer is tabled.
The 32-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been linked with a move away from the Magpies after nearly a 14-year stay.
But the Nigerian international claims it would be hard to leave Newcastle and would consider a contract extension.
“I never say never in this game because I don’t know what is going to happen next season, but it has been a fantastic 14 years for me here and I’ve loved every minute,” Ameobi said.
“Yes, we’ve had our fair share of ups and downs over the years but on the main I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and everything that has come with playing for Newcastle United.”
Toon boss, Alan Pardew, has also expressed a desire to offer a new deal for the long-serving striker, who has netted 71 times for the club.
“That’s something me and Shola and the Board will look at,” Pardew added.
“He’s been an absolutely magnificent servant for this football club.”
