Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has commiserated with the family of the late Thisday correspondent in the state, Tunde Sanni, describing the death of the ace journalist as highly unfortunate and disheartening.
The governor, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday by his Special Adviser, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said that he received the news of Sanni’s death with shock and disbelief.
Although he recalled that the late correspondent had for some time been in and out of hospital for an undisclosed ailment, the governor expressed the regret that he (Sanni) finally lost the battle to save his life.
Ajimobi described the late journalist as a core professional, with high sense of responsibility and commitment, adding that he would be remembered for upholding the ethics of the journalism profession and for his analytical mind which reflected in his various write-ups.
He also noted Sanni’s immense contribution to the success of his administration through his constructive criticisms of his government’s policies and programmes.
While condoling with the family, friends, professional colleagues and the Nigerian Union of Journalists on the passing away of Sanni, he prayed the almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest.
