The Chairman of Guyuk Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Ethan Buggy, was on Tuesday removed from office for alleged disloyalty to the State Government.
Governor Murtala Nyako’s Press Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Sajo, told newsmen that Buggy was impeached following a vote of no confidence passed on him by legislators in the council.
Kube Wilberforce was immediately sworn in as Acting Chairman of the council,
The Deputy Governor, Bala James, who stood in for Nyako, urged Wilberforce to ensure equity, justice and fair play in the discharge of his duties.
“Use the mandate given to you to improve the lots of the people of the area,” James said.
The acting chairman was sworn-in by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Suleiman Shelleng.
Wilberforce thanked the Government for finding him fit to serve as acting chairman of the local government and assured of his loyalty.
