The leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the Central Senatorial District of Ekiti State has endorsed the Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the sole candidate for the party in the 2014 governorship poll.
Moving the motion for the endorsement during the May edition of the senatorial meeting in Ado Ekiti, at the weekend, under the Chairmanship of Honourable Ojo Atibioke, the Saribi of Iyin Ekiti, High Chief George Femi Ojo, noted that the development was as a result of the need for the governor to continue with the good works he is doing in the state.
According to Ojo: “I Chief George Femi Ojo (JP) specifically from Ward B, Iyin, EKiti in the Central Senatorial District hereby move the motion to endorse His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi as the sole candidate for the 2014 governorship elections in the state under the flagship of the (ACN).”
The motion, which was seconded by the House of Assembly member representing Efon Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ogundele Folorunso, was moved, endorsed and ratified by all the leaders, who endorsed unanimously for and on behalf of the five local governments of Irepodun/Ifelodun, Efon, Ado, Ijero and Ekiti West.
Ojo, who is also the chairman of the state House of Assembly Service Commission, specifically noted that members of the ACN in the Central Senatorial District of the state and specifically Ward B, Iyin Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Council, should disregard any other member of the party or whoever that expresses same interest contrary to the collective resolve of the Central Senatorial District.
He said: “Anybody from Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government or any other Local Government in the Central Senatorial District , that shows interest in the gubernatorial race for 2014 in the state should be ignored, disregarded as such an ambition is null and void.”
The meeting had in attendance the party chairmen in the five local governments: Pa. Olagunju Adigun, Ado; Alhaji Ganiyu Adeyemi Alagbada, Irepodun/Ifelodun; Mr. Ogunyemi Ibiyemi, Ekiti West; Mr Deji Oguntuase, Efon; and Mr Jekoyemi Bankole, Ijero.
Others included the leaders of the party in the district such as Hon. Rotimi Odu; Hon. Churchill Adedipe; Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo; Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Eniola Ajayi; Commissioner for Budget, Biodun Oyebanji; Special Adviser Political, Alhaji Ayodele Jinadu; Special Adviser Legislative and Allied Matters, Hon. Oladapo Karounwi; Special Adviser Policy and Strategy, Hon. Biodun Omoleye; Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Mojeed Jamiu; state Chief of protocol, Tade Aluko; Caretaker Chairmen of the five Local Governments, Major Tajudeen Awe (rtd.), Irepodun/Ifelodun; Mr. Ropo Famubode, Ekiti West; Dr. Adio Folayan, Efon; Hon. Bode Agbeleye, Ijero; and Hon. Tope Olanipekun.
