A 23-year-old man, Abubakar Mohammed, has been charged before a Federal High Court in Lagos with unlawful deal in cannabis sativa (hemp).
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in a charge marked FHC/L/12c/23, said that Mohammed traded in banned substance on Dec. 15, 2022.
The NDLEA prosecutor, N.I. Mamza, alleged that the defendant committed the offence at the Alaba Rago area of Ojo, Lagos State.
She alleged that Mohammed, whose address was not provided, traded in two kilogrammes of the banned substance, adding that he was arrested on a tip-off.
According to the prosecutor, cannabis sativa, along with cocaine, heroin and other psychotropic substances, is marked as prohibited in the NDLEA Schedule.
Trafficking in them offends Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act of 2004.
