Ehwerido: Senate sets up nine-man burial committee

The Senate has set up a nine-man burial committee to liaise with the family of its late colleague, Senator Pius Ehwerido, just as it adjourned plenary session in his honour.
Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba (PDP-Cross River), who on Tuesday in Abuja moved a motion for the adjournment, said the Senate had suffered an unspeakable loss.
Ndoma-Egba said: “There is nothing on our order paper.
“This is deliberate because on June 30, we suffered an unspeakable loss.
“One of our best and brightest passed on.
“So, I move that we observe one minute silence in his honour, and adjourn till Wednesday.”
The Senate President, David Mark, said the proposed debate on the report of the 1999 constitution review committee, which was to begin on Tuesday, would also be postponed to July 9.
The Senate observed a one-minute silence in honour of Ehwerido and adjourned the session since there was nothing on the order paper for consideration.
The burial committee is to be chaired by Senator Suleiman Adokwe (PDP-Nasarawa) with Senators James Manager, Ifeanyi Okowa, Olushola Adeyeye, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Ita Enang, Nenadi Usman, Gyang Pwajok and Joshua Lidani as members.
