The directive was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the President of ASSBIFI, Olusoji Oluwole.
A faction of the IPOB had through a video that circulated online last Tuesday, ordered the people of the South-East to observe a sit-at-home from December 9-14, 2022.
Several roads across major cities such as Onitsha, Nnewi, Oba, Obosi, Ekwulobia and some parts of Awka were empty as vehicles deserted the roads.
Unlike before when the state capital was literally deserted on Mondays, there were vehicles on the roads with buying and selling on the roadsides improving tremendously in the state capital.
The incident happened along the Umunze Road, Orumba South Local Government Area, with the operational vehicle of the hoodlums recovered.
A large number of residents also stayed indoors for fear of being attacked.
The group said it gave the order following Nnamdi Kanu’s court proceedings coming up on January 18, 19 and 20, 2022 at the Umuahia High Court.
The hoodlums suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network were said to be enforcing the Monday sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, which the group had cancelled.
Although the cause of the stampede was yet to be established, people were said to be running helter-skelter following a report that some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra came to enforce the earlier suspended Monday sit-at-home at commercial areas of the state.
The situation was mild in Onitsha with movement of residents though markets, shops and banks all locked up.
This comes after the group ordered a sit-at-home in protest of the arrest and detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, which calls for his immediate release.

As early as 6 am, many residents were seen glued to their transistor radios to listen to news about the trial.
Private and public schools were under lock and key as students and teachers stayed at home.
The pro -Biafra agitators gave the directives in respect of the arraignment of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in court.
This time, a shop and a trailer truck were set ablaze by hoodlums suspected to be enforcing the order at Eke-Obinagu suburb along the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway in Enugu East Council Area of the state.
This has continued two months after the separatist group, IPOB, said it had cancelled its weekly sit-at-home order in protest against the detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal Government.
The secessionist group said the ban begins today, and also declared October 1 a sit-at-home day.
