The Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to Governor Abiola Ajimobi to provide financial support to the local governments in the state that were unable to pay their workers’ salaries.
Ojo, representing Oriire state constituency in the Assembly, spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on the sideline of the just-concluded 2018 Conference of Speakers of the State Legislatures of Nigeria.
The House presided over by the Speaker, Olagunju Ojo, made the plea while adopting the resolution in a matter of urgent public importance raised by Joshua Oyebamiji, the lawmaker representing Akinyele 1.
Agboke said the by-election was necessitated by the demise of the former Speaker, Michael Adeyemo, representing the constituency in the state House of Assembly.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ojo, who emerged the new Speaker, is representing Oriire State Constituency.
The governor also felicitated with the new speaker for being found worthy by his colleagues to occupy the exalted position.
He made the call during a condolence visit to Governor Abiola Ajimobi in his office on Wednesday in Ibadan.

The Assembly made the appeal following the reported increase in rape cases, particularly of the girl-child in the state.
The appropriation bill, tagged: “Budget of Stabilisation,’’ presented to the assembly was N60 billion higher than the N207 billion presented in 2017.
