Former Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, one of those accused of and charged with fraud in the OPL245 scam, also referred to as Malabu scandal, had petitioned the police, accusing those behind petitions resulting his prosecution for corruption and money laundering of circulating fabricated evidence against him to unduly incriminate him in the multi-million dollars scandal.

Banire made the assertion on the sidelines of an Independence Day Anniversary programme organised by the Lagos State chapter of the Buhari Youth Organisation and National Orientation Agency in Lagos.

Other members of the Committee included Laide Badru (Secretary), Wunmi Bewaji (General Counsel) and Muinat Mustapha, while the sitting of the Committee was held on August 14, 2017 at Bishop Aggey Memorial School, Ilasamaja, with Banire shunning invitation to defend the allegations against him.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the crowd, however, waited in vain to see Banire, as he failed to show up before the committee.
The report was submitted by the Chairman of the Committee and APC National Legal Adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), at the National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday evening.

Banire spoke against the backdrop of his suspension from the party by the executive of Mushin Local Government Area of the party in Lagos State
According to the Acting Secretary of the Ward, Hon. Taofeek Ajani-Balogun, the decision to suspend Banire from the party was reached during the ward meeting held to review the last Local Government Elections in the Ward
Some members of the party from Mushin Local Government Area and Odi Olowo Local Council Development Area on Tuesday protested against Banire, demanding for his expulsion from APC.
The protesters, led by a chieftain of the party in the area, Femi Martins, said they were constrained to make the demand owing to Banire’s several excesses and public utterances, which were aimed at causing public disaffection and electoral misfortune against the party, particularly during the forthcoming Local Government election in the State
Banire, in a statement he personally signed, said a rally being coordinated by a former local government boss and serving Commissioner in Lagos State, is being planned for Tuesday (tomorrow) in furtherance of the plan
