The project, which consists of 11.8 kilometres of public lighting, is broken into two sections, with one section consisting of 1.2 kilometres from Ikorodu Road to Jibowu, while the second consists of 10.6 kilometres on Murtala Mohammed Way (from Jibowu to Iddo)

Speaking at the state’s first “Lagos Drivers’ Appreciation Day” held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry House, Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Fashola said the horn-free day was an initiative of his administration to persuade citizens that there is a better way to live than indulging in noise pollution, which has been found to be harmful to their health

In a statewide broadcast, Fashola said the resolve was based on the courage so far shown by the first set of health workers at the state and federal levels as well as the leadership of the state and federal ministries of health, with the support of the government’s international partners

Fashola, who spoke at the 10 Degrees Event Centre, Oregun Industrial Estate, venue of the event, said the State Executive Council has approved a pilot project of providing solar power in all the public schools in the state, adding that 172 schools would benefit in the first phase, which will run between now and May next year

In a lecture delivered at the ceremony, which took place at the Surulere Junior Secondary School, Ladipo Labinjo Crescent, Surulere, the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur Rahman Ahmad, urged everyone to live in full recognition that a day of judgement would come
