The spokesman of the Command,  DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Warri.

This development was revealed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa.

DSP William Aya, the command spokesman, said this in a statement in Lokoja on Thursday.

The counsel revealed this on Wednesday when the case came up before Justice Obiora Egwuatu in Abuja.

They had received a report from one Bature Ibrahim, a truck driver with the Dangote Group of Companies, that while trying to park his truck with registration number DAS. 690 ZY loaded with 900 bags of cement at Okpella in Edo State,  four armed men emerged from the bush, dragged him and his conductor into the bush, gave them several machete cuts and tied them with rope, then made away with the truck.

They were arrested following a distress call received by police that a gang of four armed robbers were operating at MTN Road Sapele.

Vaaswem was arrested at the Tipper-Garage, Gwagwalada, by eagle-eyed operatives of Gwagwalada Division of the command.

The suspects: Samuel Akabueze, 31, and Onuoha Joshua, 37, both from Imo State, were arrested for driving a Lexus SUV with registration number LSD 666 GK “suspiciously” along Akowonjo Road.

The revelation was made in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dogo Shammah.

He said it was against the law for anybody or group of persons to carry out jungle justice against suspected criminals.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa Police Command, ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Dutse on Saturday.

According to the public relations officer of the command, DSP Edafe Bright, operatives on that day had intercepted a Navy blue Toyota Picnic car with registration number AAA 464 YA with six male occupants.

Though not a new trend, armed robbers have continued to devise new methods to lure their victims.

Raymond Chukwudi and Ekene Okoro were arrested by men of the Federal Highway Patrol at Ajebandele, a boundary between Ogun and Ondo States during a stop-and-search operation.

According to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, the first suspect, John Jimoh, 26, a member of a three-man phone snatching syndicate, was arrested during a routine night patrol on Wednesday 19th May,2021 along Ahmadu Bello Way while attempting to attack and rob his victim.

The Divisional Police Officer of Sango-Ota Divisional Headquarters, CSP Godwin Idehai, had earlier received a distress call that robbers were operating at Ipamesan area, and that they had already burgled a warehouse in the area.

The suspects, Lukman Olanrewaju, 27, and Shola Alabi, 28, were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Ajuwon divisional headquarters, SP Andrew Akinseye, at about 5pm on Sunday that a three-man armed robbery gang were operating at Olambe area.

Some community leaders in Festac had informed the Divisional Police Officer that the suspects wanted to sell one unregistered Lexus 2004 SUV to one Anas at the rate of N1,000,000 and they suspected that the vehicle must have been stolen.

ASP Zubairu Aminuddeen, the Public Relations Officer of the command, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Dutse on Wednesday.
