Suspected cultists confess to selling rivals’ hands to ritualists

Two suspected cultists – Oluwaseun Odueh, 32; and Adejumo Wasiu, 29 – have confessed that they usually sell the hands of rivals who fall into their trap for N5,000 to herbalists.
The cultists were arrested by detectives attached to Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Onikan, Lagos State.
They were paraded on Wednesday by the spokesperson of the Command, Dolapo Badmus.
Arrested along with the cultists were three herbalists – Ifatona Akanni, 55; Isiaka Ajani, 51; and Oko Muse, 52.
They buys the hands from the cultists.
Odueh told newsmen that he had killed several cult members.
According to him, they usually cut off the rival cult members’ hands and sell to some herbalists who use the human parts for money ritual purposes.
Odueh said he once worked in a construction company after his graduation from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
He said he had been a member of Eiye Confraternity since his days school.
He said he joined Eiye Confraternity because of threats from cult members.
He said: “Those we killed were mostly our rivals.
“We were both contracted by the Egba and Awori during their clash at Ado-Odo Ota area.
“It was because we were friends to the children of the Awori, that was why we assisted them in the fight.
“After the matter was settled, we the cultists continued with our fight.
“But they had the upper hand and many of our members were killed.
“Some of those killed then were Kenny, Latest and Gogodo.
“That was why we decided to revenge their death.
“They always cut off the hands of most of our colleagues they killed.
“That was why we started our retaliation.
“We decided to cut off their hands and sell to herbalists.
“We used the money realised for logistics.
“I regret joining the cult group and I have wasted all my time due to the rivalry clash.”
Wasiu said since they started killing and selling their rivals’ hands, he had killed about five people in Ijoko and its environs.
He said: “We don’t just kill for nothing sake.
“It was because they were killing our colleagues arbitrarily that was why we also went after them.
“We thought that instead of throwing the remains of those we killed away, we decided to sell their hands to herbalists who will use the parts for money rituals and get paid.
“We sell each hand for N5,000 to herbalists.
“I was into cybercrime before the fight between the Egba and Awori started.
“Since then, I have been with my Eiye cult colleagues.
“I don’t want my colleagues to die in vain.
“That was why we went after our rivals.”
Akanni said he did not know the suspects were cult members.
He said: “They lied to me that they were working in a cemetery.
“After buying the hands, we burn them into ashes and add some other things to it and sell to those who need favour and money rituals.
“I have only bought two hands since I knew them.
“I was only assisting people who wanted to get rich.
“I was arrested at my shrine and some other burnt human parts.”
Ajani, also the Basile of Ososun village in Ifo, said he knew those who brought the hands to them as cult members.
He said: “I have only bought two hands from the cult members for N10,000.
“We always use the hands for money rituals.
“We have people who usually ask us to prepare money rituals for them.
“I have been doing it for about six years now.”
Badmos said the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Adamu Ibrahim, had directed that they should be arraigned after completion of investigations.
