Reps condemn Baga killings, call for relief materials for victims

Members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday observed a minute silence over the series of mass killings by Boko Haram insurgents in Baga, Borno State. The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the killings took place between January 3 and 7, leaving 150 people dead, among other destructions. The lawmakers called on the National Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials for the victims of the attacks without delay. This followed a motion sponsored by Rep. Yakubu Dogara (Bauchi-APC), who commended the military for its dogged fight against the insurgents. The House adjourned sitting to February 17 to enable members participate in the general elections.
