The Peoples Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Reformed All Progressives Congress and 35 other political parties and groups on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The National Chairmen of the political parties signed the MoU at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, and pledged to work together under the “Coalition for United Democratic Parties” to produce a presidential candidate for the 2019 election.
Among those in attendance were former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; former President of the Senate, David Mark; former Deputy President of the Senate, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu; former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode Gorge; former National Secretary of the PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye; and National Publicity Secretary of the R-APC, Kassim Afegbua.
Governors in attendance were Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.
Others included Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former governor of Old Anambra State; Chief Ikenga Ugochinyere, Chairman, Action Peoples Party; Senator Walid Jibrin, PDP BOT Chairman; Senator Abdul Ningi; Senator Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State; Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a presidential aspirant; Senators Samuel Anyanwu (Imo) and Eyinnaya Abaribe (Abia); Dr. Jhaleel Tafawa Balewa, NIM Co-chair; Ambassador Aminu Wali; Senator Theodore Orji, former governor of Abia; and Senator Ben Obi.
