As arrangement are being finalised for a meeting of the caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South West, members of the party not invited have been told to stay away.
The meeting, which has been enlarged by the PDP’s National Vice Chairman, South West, Chief Segun Oni, will have in attendance former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole; former governors; and other invited chieftains of the party in the zone.
It is to be held on Saturday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. There had been issues in the past where members not invited to the meeting had caused scenes there by insisting on entering the venue.
A statement by the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Kayode Babade, however, warned anyone not invited to steer clear of the venue of the meeting.
Others invited to the meeting, according to Babade are all current National Executive Council members (NWC, BOT, Deputies, Ex-Officio members), all former National Working Committee (NWC) members, all Current National Assembly members, all serving and former Honourable Ministers and Special Advisers to the President and all former principal officers of the National Assembly.
Others are all former governors (military and civilian), all former Deputy Governors, all former National Vice-Chairmen, all serving and former Ambassadors, former senators (from the Second Republic till date), all former Honourable Speakers and Deputy Speakers of state Houses of Assembly, all current members of the Zonal Exco, all current members of state Houses of Assembly, all current Chairmen of Federal Boards, all former Secretaries to State Governments, all serving Federal Commissioners and all current state Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers, Woman Leaders and Youth Leaders.
Babade said: “Our vision and mission in the Zonal Exco is for all our members to come together under a party that is all-inclusive and we hope that with meetings like the one we are holding on Saturday, we will achieve that goal.
“It is not going to be an all-comers meeting.”
