PDM, Ahmed, Akpabio eulogize Lar

The Peoples Democratic Movement has described the passing on of elder statesman and people’s politician, Chief Solomon Dauschep Lar, at 80, as a great loss to Nigeria.
The National Chairman of the PDM, Mallam Yusuf Ibrahim, who spoke through his Media Advisor, Alaba Yusuf, stated: “Chief Lar was a political colossus of the highest breed who brought colour and candour to the artistry of politics in the country, dating back to pre-independence days.”
Ibrahim further stressed that Chief Lar, a former governor of Plateau State and ex federal parliamentarian, was “an indomitable politician who till his death prayed and wished for unity and security amongst Nigerians, as exemplified in his Independence Day clarion call for oneness.”
In addition, the PDM believes that the sudden exit of a great politician of Chief Lar’s pedigree and wealth of experience would definitely create a big vacuum, which will be difficult to fill.
“We pray that his amiable soul shall rest in peace; we also wish members of his family the fortitude to bear the huge loss,” Ibrahim concluded, urging those left behind to emulate the good qualities of the deceased.
The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has also described the death of Lar as a national loss.
Governor Ahmed, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, noted that the demise of the elder statesman is even more painful as the nation has not only been deprived of the depth of his experience as a seasoned politician, but that this is even coming at a time when his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the nation are going through real and enduring transformation.
According to the governor, Chief Lar was particularly outstanding in the country’s political terrain because he “was an adherent of political integration and inclusiveness who played a significant role in the Second Republic and contributed immensely to the birth and strong footing of the Peoples Democratic Party, especially as its first National Chairman”.
He observed that the late astute politician would be remembered for his exemplary humility, vision and the maturity he brought to political leadership in the country for more than 50 years of Nigeria’s nationhood.
The governor said that the death of Chief Lar has left a big vacuum not only in the party but in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole and prayed God to grant him eternal rest and grant the family, the Government and people of Plateau State and the nation at large the fortitude to bear the loss.
Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has expressed shock at the death of Lar and extended his condolences to the people of Plateau State, the PDP family and, indeed, all Nigerians who feel the pain of the departure of Chief Lar, whom he described as a “this national treasure.”
Akpabio described the late statesman as someone who placed national interest above his personal interest and served his nation with great passion, delight and love.
He maintained that the duty of all his admirers in particular and Nigerians in general was to continue his work and realize his principles and values in our nation-building efforts.
Governor Akpabio stated that in every station that the late statesman found himself while he was alive, either as the first civilian governor of Plateau State or the pioneer Chairman of the PDP, he acquitted himself creditably and cast his moral shadow across the nation.
