One burnt beyond recognition in Lagos explosion

One person has been confirmed burnt beyond recognition in an early morning explosion that occurred on Lagos Island, Lagos State on Wednesday.
The National Emergency Management Authority, which confirmed the development, said the corpse was recovered from the rubble of the building in which the explosion occurred.
The Head of Public Relations of NEMA, Yushau Shuaib, said rescue workers of the agency discovered the corpse.
Shuaib also confirmed that the explosion, as earlier reported by The Eagle Online, was caused by fireworks, popularly known in Nigeria as banger, stored in the building, which served as a warehouse.
He added in a statement to the media: “At least fifteen people were treated for injuries sustained mostly from stampede during the explosion.
“The explosion was not suspected to be a deliberate attack to cause confusion as security agencies have commenced their investigations.”
